1st year

The Flanders Fashion Institute (FFI) took the initiative to present the skirt studies in the Forum of Modenatie – March/April 2004

Company visit to UCO
UCO donated all materials necessary for the personal designs in denim to the first year’s students. The Fashion Department hereby expresses special thanks to Rinze Koopmans for his hospitality and this praise-worthy initiative..

2nd year

The FFI organised the annual exhibition of the historical costumes in the Forum of Modenatie – December 2003

Louis Vuitton
The Louis Vuitton Museum and the workshops in Asnières invited the students of the 2nd year. The students also visited the Paris Louis Vuitton boutiques on the Avenue Montaigne and on the Place Saint-Germain des Pres. Subsequently, they realised designs and prototypes on the theme ‘Voyages’.
We thank Julie Bueninck, Xavier Dixsaut, Isabelle Bois and Marie-Ange Moulonguet for their dedicated and expert guidance in this instructive project.

Brooches from Rubens ‘till now
The current theme exhibition on brooches in the Diamond Museum uses costumes and accessories by Natalia Culebras Cruz, Mikio Sakabe, Akira Naka, Joanna Trudzinski, Jan Konings, Alena Maria Bartschat and Marisa Leipert.

3rd year

The FFI organised the annual presentation of the etnic costumes in the Forum of Modenatie – December 2003

Louis
Marjan Eggers enables a promising student to show his/her collection during the show2004 at the boutique Louis, on the Lombardenvest in Antwerp.

IFF
The 3rd year’s students worked on a project with the IFF (International Flavors and Fragrances). The assignment was to create an individual concept for perfume, around the theme ‘sensuality’.

4th year

Vitrine
The FFI offers all 4th year’s students the possibility to expose their collection during ‘Vitrine 2004’ in September 2004

Weston
Michel Perry, the designer of Weston and Patric Rodier, guided workshops for the creation and realisation of men’s shoes. A professional jury selected four designs that were realised as prototypes by Weston. The final winner is Anna Ervamaa, her design will be in the Weston collection. The results of the projects are currently exhibited at ModeNatie, and the winning design will be on sales in a number of Weston stores from September 2004. -> more about this project

Charity Project Firenze 2004
Peter Pilotto, Anna Ervamaa and Sita Fischer represented the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp (Hogeschool Antwerpen) in a workshop in Florence for the “Charity for Children in Calcutta”, to support the Fondazione Dominique Lapierre.
This project was sponsored by Salvatore Ferragamo and Pitti Immagine Italië.

Contest “The Best Yarns for the Best Minds”
Organised by Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia in Italy.
Julie Fogel, Julie Detaye and Sita Fischer used Cashwool in their collection and participated in the design contest.

Bal Masqué
Peter Pilotto designed and realised a mask for the Bal Masqué on April 16th and 17th at Modenatie.

Prato Expo
The work of Eva Gommeren and Jan Van Essche was exhibited during the Prato expo in Florence.

Shows
Students of the Fashion Academy assisted backstage in the shows and showrooms in Paris of a.o. Dries Van Noten, Véronique Branquinho, A.F. Vandevorst, Bernhard Willhelm, Haider Ackermann, Bruno Pieters

Annick Geenen
Photoshoot of the last year’s collections. The pictures will be shown on the website.

Siemens
Thanks to the financial support of Siemens, Nathalie Van Laere gave guest lectures on pattern design to the students of the Fashion Department of the Hogeschool Antwerpen.

It’s Three
Peter Pilotto, Anna Ervamaa, Sita Fischer and Demna Gvasalia were selected to participate in the It’s Three contest in Trieste. Slobodan Mihailovic was last year’s winner of the Maria Luisa award of It’s Two.

AltaModa-AltaRoma 2003
Philipp Rupp, An Pastré and Nadège Vanhee were invited to present their last year’s collection in Rome during the Couture-Fashion Week.

Second Hand seconde Life
Jan-Jan Van Essche made a silhouette for Fortis within the framework of the Spullenhulp (charity second hand goods) project

Show 2004 & High Definition Television
Thanks to the collaboration of Euro1080, the first High Definition broadcasting co-operation, the SHOW2004 will be recorded in HDTV, broadcasted and burnt on dvd.
